6th Annual "Live-on-Stage" Reader's Poll

Each year for the past 6 years we have run a Reader's Poll in the Magazine to allow our reader's to vote for their favourite artiste in a range of categories to include Best Male Vocalist, Best Female Vocaliste, Best Duo, Best Group, Best Comedy / Speciality Act, Best Newcomer, and more recently best Compere / Resident Artist and "Entertainer of the Year"

To concentrate the voting, we publish a list of nominated artists in each of the above categories (excluding the Entertainer of the Year which is an open vote) and this list is compiled by including the winners for the past 2 years (assuming they are still active in the area) and the other nominees coming from the artistes who have appeared most often in the Magazine listings for the months of July, August and September of that year. A voting slip is then included in the October, November and December issues with voting closing on 31st December. In 2002 for the first time we have accepted E Mail voting. Only one vote per reader is allowed (one vote per E Mail address). The results are first announced at our Presentation Night which we normally hold on the 3rd or 4th Thursday of January, rotating the venue between venues which advertise with us. The results are published in the February issue of Live on Stage, and will appear here on our Web Site soon after the Presentation Night. The venue for this year's Presentation Night is The Raine Club in Hull and it will be held on Thursday 23rd January 2003.

The Reader's Poll is not fool-proof, and I am aware that "block voting" does go on. However all nominees have the same opportunity, we only accept original voting slips, and generally speaking the winners have all been Top Class Popular acts who have deserved and been delighted with their Award.
